What is a Cranial Prosthetic?
A cranial prosthetic is an FDA-recognized medical device designed for individuals experiencing hair loss resulting from medical conditions such as alopecia, chemotherapy, radiation, or other health concerns. Unlike commercial wigs, each piece is engineered for sensitive scalps, hypoallergenic breathability, and prolonged medical wear.
Will My Insurance Cover It?
Many health insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits or reimbursement for cranial prosthetics when prescribed by a physician. Coverage depends on your specific policy benefits, medical diagnosis, and deductible. We provide the itemized documentation and coding you need to submit your claim.
What Are The Requirements?
Insurance providers typically require a prescription from your physician or oncologist written for a "Cranial Prosthesis" (not a cosmetic wig), along with an associated ICD-10 medical diagnostic code. Some insurers may also require prior authorization, which we assist you with.
How Does The Process Work?
Clients receive their physician prescription, and we provide detailed itemized medical invoices and necessary HCPCS coding (A9282) for your insurance submission. We guide you step-by-step through direct claims or reimbursement paperwork.
What If Insurance Doesn't Cover It?
If insurance is partial or unavailable, we gladly accept HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) cards, and offer flexible payment plan options. All out-of-pocket payments are supplied with full medical documentation for tax or secondary reimbursement review.
